This series follows a stretch of Brighton’s shoreline. All of the images were made along the same part of the coast, observing how the atmosphere, light, and human presence shift over time. The images were not taken in peak season, which shows Brighton in its everyday state, demonstrating the beauty it holds in its stillness and spaciousness. The photographs are presented in black and white, which gives the work a softer, more uniform look and makes it easier to feel the transition of time. It facilitates the use of negative space without the distraction of colour, allowing the contents and shapes to emerge from the emptiness within the frame. The order of the photographs follows a natural shift from morning to night, mirroring the way a day opens and gradually settles into evening, allowing the shoreline to be experienced as a continuous rhythm with a quiet, observational tone.
